1) Design Points System
Create your classroom behavior expectations and classroom routines.

2) Communicate Expectations
Teach your expectations and routines to students in a fun and memorable way.

3) Students Earn Points
Award positive points to reinforce positive behavior. Issue demerits and optionally take away points when students make negative choices.

4) Weekly Feedback Reports
Print reports that show students their weekly earnings and provide parents with detailed feedback on their child's behavior.

5) Students Redeem Rewards!
Offer opportunities, rewards, and privileges to reward students’ hard work!

3 Keys to Successful Classroom Management

Effective behavior management practices are consistently applied, meaningful to students, and sustainable for you!

Consistency. Your classroom management systems should establish consistent patterns between student choices and outcomes. Your points system should include a mix of rewards and consequences, with an overall balance that is heavier on positivity and reinforcement.

Meaningful. The feedback, rewards, and consequences in your classroom management system need to be meaningful to students.

Sustainable. Your classroom management system stops being effective the moment it burns you out. Period.
